Dear Valued Club Members,

Thank you for your continued support, cooperation and understanding.

We are very happy to announce that effective from Monday 1 June 2020, our club have gained the approval from Maroondah City Council to allow an increase in the numbers at our facility to 20 people per group (previously 10), providing we adhere to the State Government restrictions and Tennis Victoria Guidelines on managing this increased number.

At Croydon Tennis Club, to abide by the 20 people maximum in groups, we can use all the courts with a maximum of 4 players per court (that is a game of doubles).

However, for each of our playing surfaces, we are allowed 20 people. That is, a total of 20 players/coaches on the en-tout-cas surface and a total of 20 players/coaches on the synthetic clay surface.

So, please be mindful especially when the coaching sessions are at its peak attendance that we do not cross over the 20 people mark.

The key points for members/tennis players to note are :

🎾 Social tennis (singles & doubles) and small group coaching are only permitted and in gatherings of no more than 20.

🎾 Only people core to playing or coaching should be on the courts and clubhouse.

🎾 Parents / Relatives of children players & other children, are requested to wait for their young players outside the courts. Otherwise, you will be contributing towards the maximum of 20 per court surface.

🎾 Everyone, regardless of their role must arrive and leave as close as possible to when they need to be at the club.

🎾 Social distancing must be practiced at all times (1.5 metres from another person and no more than one person per 4 square metres)

🎾 Wash and disinfect your hands before and after play and avoid touching your face while playing

🎾 Members/players should bring their own hand sanitizer and water bottle.

🎾 The clubhouse is to remain closed but toilets will be available for use when a committee member or coach is available to open them

🎾 All drinking fountains at the club will be temporarily decommissioned and are not to be used.

🎾 For coaching students/players, they are to enter via the court gates and on completion of coaching, leave the clubhouse via the clubhouse gates.

🎾 Access to the courts and/or clubhouse is either through the coach or a club committee member

🎾 Council has deactivated all member’s swipe cards, for the time being, so access can only be obtained by booking a court session by contacting Club Secretary calling the mobile number 0438 624 467 or email secretary@croydontennisclub.com.au or via Team App messaging.

🎾 Another requirement is contact tracing, so upon booking of courts, we will need to record the names & numbers of all the players.

🎾 Croydon Tennis Club encourages members to download the COVIDSafe App as an additional tool in restricting the spread of COVID-19.

Please view the Tennis Victoria “Return to Tennis Guidelines” (published 15 May 2020) for further information and please stay at home if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days or have even a mild flu-like symptom.

As we are all itching to get back to the swing of things to a new normal, and for that reason, we have developed a court usage plan to manage and balance the competing needs of all our members, for example, the competition players for practice only, social players, families, juniors, and coaches.

The court usage plan aims to ensure equitable access and time on the court for all members especially the casual walk-in player/family. So, for the next coming months, we ask that members exercise patience and flexibility when trying to access a court.

We understand that there is a lot to digest to allow us to return to playing tennis safely, so if you have any enquiries, concerns or suggestions on club operating matters during these COVID-19 times, please contact Club Secretary on 0438 624 467 or email secretary@croydontennisclub.com.au or via Team App messaging.

Enquiries related to coaching is directed to Grant on 0414 584 610.

Please act responsibly, be mindful of the maximum numbers allowed and be vigilant in following the social distancing rules.

Again, we are so very thankful for your due diligence in the COVID 19 requirements and please always remain safe and stay well.

Yours always in tennis,

Croydon Tennis Club Committee
